How it works
Bulk items are collected by request, on a scheduled date, within limits on the amount and the type. Book it on the city's page (linked from our Local resources), put the items at the curb the night before, and keep them separate from garbage and yard waste.
What it will not take
- Construction and renovation debris.
- Appliances with refrigerant, unless certified drained.
- Tires, paint, chemicals; Guilford County's hazardous-waste program takes those.
- Anything from a business, a rental turnover or an estate cleanout in volume.
When to skip it
When the date is too far out, when the pile is bigger than the limit, when it is upstairs or in the basement, or when it is any of the excluded things. That is the junk crew's job, usually the same week and often the same day.
